Local Food Sourcing

Learn and share ideas, resources, and promising practices with other network members across Washington State about local food sourcing by connecting cafeterias to Washington farmers and products.

What is Local Food Sourcing?

LFS (Local Food Sourcing or Local Foods in Schools) is a community of practice within the Washington State Farm to School Network that connects school nutrition professionals, food producers, distributors, nonprofit partners, and community leaders working to strengthen local food purchasing across Washington schools.

Through relationship-building, peer learning, and collaboration, LFS supports efforts to increase access to locally grown, raised, harvested, and produced foods in school meals while strengthening regional food systems and local economies.
